Modern Apprentices
As an Approved Centre by SEMTA and Approved Provider for Skills Development Scotland (SDS), we are able to offer the management of the MA scheme for companies who wish their apprentices to obtain this qualification. There are no costs involved for this from the company other than the time away for the Educational Component, (normally day release, 1 day per week), as there is funding available from Skills Development Scotland.
The Apprentice and the Employer have the choice to which pathway the apprentice will take. There is also a choice of attending College for a National Certificate (NC) or by taking a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) that is equivalent to a National Certificate (NC).
At Varis Training we offer the VRQ, the Intermediate Certificate in Engineering & Technology as the Educational Component. Each apprentice must achieve the following:
Level 2 Vocational Qualification

Core Skills
Numeracy, Problem Solving, Communication, IT, Working With Others. (most candidates have gained these Core Skills at school)
